30 January. Visit to Picton.

Have just returned from quick visit to Picton for the night. This is a view from our hotel window.

29 January. Washbourn Gardens

Walking early this morning the gardens in our local park loooked gorgeous after the rain last night. Unfortunately it was so early the shadows do not allow the colour to shine true to colour.

28 January. Agapanthus

Many gardens in our area have beautiful purple and white agapanthus at present. Once you have planted them they are there for ever and seem to take over their litle territory.

27 January. Magnolia.

The only flower at present on my Magnolia "Little Gem". There were not as many blooms this year.

26 January. Butterfly Garden

Hidden away behind one of the classrooms our school caretaker has made a garden to attract butterflies for the children to enjoy. At present the swan plants have many monach butterfly caterpillars busily munching and several crysalis ready to hatch.

25 January. Snail Trail.

When looking for the culprits who have been nibbling on our new lettuce plants and sucking from the ripe strawberries I found a number of slugs and snails. This one appears to only have one eye........!!

24 January. Grapes.

We are looking forward to our grapes getting ripe this year.

23 January. Sad Eyes.

Our dog is usually a very happy girl but this photo taken today expresses her extreme reluctance to sit for the camera on this occassion.

Friday 21 January. Exploring The Walkways.

Yesterday our dog led me on another enjoyable walk around a different route. When we got home I downloaded my photos and had another play with the collage programme Lois shared a few days ago. Thanks again Lois.

20 January. Little Fuchsia.

This litte fuchsia bush can always be depended on to produce a nice show each season. It brings the bumblebees to the garden. If you look closely you will see one "doing his thing".

19 January. Rainy Day Diversion

Yesterday I was looking after "Little Miss Nextdoor" who is not far off turning 4. The rain was pouring down and as we couldn't use the trampoline or sandpit we headed down to my classroom where she busied herself all afternoon with the computer and my ipad games.

18 January. Pumice Man

In our garden we hve several liitle items that peep out at us from behind plants. This little fellow is made of pumice (volcanic rock) and his eyes are made of paua shell.

17 January. Coprosma.

I justlove the warm glow from the leaves from one of my coprosma bushes.

16 January Nana's Knitting

Little gramdaughter has outgrown the pink poncho I made her last winter. I have been requested to make another one, so the last three days have seen me busyily clicking away on my knitting needles to make this winter's edition. I feel I may be asked for a purple version as well after I finish the cardigan I have just started.

15 January. Cuckoo Clock

Two years ago today we completed our European tour. The clock on our wall is a daily reminder of our stopover in Lucerne, Switzerland.

14 January. Mr Woody.

Pottering around the garden we are always watched by "Mr Woody" a driftwood sculpture picked up at a craft fair a couple of years ago.

13 January. One Of Our Morning Walks.

Our dog really enjoys the school holidays. She is always ready for our morning walk around a variety of different areas near home. Yesterday we headed over a nearby rise and took these photos looking out toward the North West ranges. Of course all walks on these beautiful sunny days have to finish with a doggie splash in the creek to cool off.

12 January. Out The Window.

I can't decide what to post today on my blog, so this is a view out my dining room window.

11 January. The Bird Hide

Just a few minutes walk from home, up a bush track, a local group have made a bird hide to enable native bird recovery. Every day new food is added and apparently there have been up to 13 different species of birds visiting. Unfortunately when I was there, I only saw some waxeyes flitting around. I will take my camera again some time.

10 January. Nosy sheep

On our early morning walk these sheep at neighbouring farm land called out to my dog and me.

9 January Rabbit Island

At Rabbit Island for lunch today. Beautiful day , very hot. First view is looking back toward Nelson Harbour. Second view looks back toward Mapua/Motueka.

8 January. Roses

It is another beautiful morning and time to get out and deadhead my roses.

7 January. Waimea Inlet

6 January. Presents

I have shared the chocolates, finished the wine, stowed away the soap and now I am finding places to display these little gifts lovingly presented to me by members of my class at Christmas time. It is a rainy day today, so indoors tasks are first on the agenda.

5 January. At The Park.

Have just enjoyed a walk to the nearby park with our dog.
